Bindu PJ of Chingoli in Alappuzha underwent an angiogram procedure on June 3, but despite an open heart surgery to remove the broken part of the catheter, she died on June 30, The News Minute reported.

The family members of Bindu alleged that after a portion of the catheter broke, she was rushed to another private hospital.

A relative of Bindu told TNM, “The angiogram procedure started by 11 am on June 3, but since there was no information even by 1.30 pm, the family went and enquired. It was only then that the hospital staff told that there had been an accident and that an equipment got stuck in the heart. They soon shifted her to another hospital and recovered the broken piece. On June 9 she was discharged as she got better.”

An open heart surgery was also performed and she was discharged after a week. She, however, died on June 30.

Acting on allegations of family members, the police have registered a case of unnatural death.

Meanwhile, in a report, a panel of doctors said even as the woman suffered an injury on the heart, it got healed. The cause of death was a fresh heart attack, a media report stated.
