West Bengal: People watch as man dies of heart attack in ATM queue

West Bengal, Dec 03, 2016 : Demonetisation led to another tragic incident in Hooghly district of West Bengal. A 45-year-old man died of heart attack while standing in a queue outside an ATM here today.

The deceased was a state gov
ernment employee, Kallol Roy Chowdhury, who was posted in Cooch Behar district. The incident took place near Bandel station in Kolkata at around 7.30 am.

Chowdhury had got down at the station while he was on his way back to his home. He was supposed to withdraw cash and catch another train for Kolkata at the Bandel station. At Bandel, Roy Chowdhury went to withdraw some cash from ATM outside the station. While standing in a queue he suddenly complained about chest pain and collapsed.

NO ONE CAME TO HELP

According to eye witnesses, he kept lying on the road for at least thirty minutes but no one came to help him because nobody wanted to give up on their chance to withdraw money.

The security guard posted at the ATM realised that Roy Chowdhury was not responding. The guard later he rushed Chowdhury to the Chinsurah Imambara Hospital in an auto rickshaw where doctors declared him brought dead.
