Virat Kohli Gets Khel Ratna 2018

Sep 26, 2018: Only last week the Government of India announced the list of National Sports Award 2018 recipients. As per the list, Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli, wrestler Mirabai Chanu bagged the Khel Ratna 2018.

The ceremony is currently underway at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, Delhi where Virat received the honour. Virat’s mother and his wife Anushka Sharma accompanied the Indian cricket captain at the event. It was the President of India Ramnath Kovind who gave him the honour.

Dressed in the black blazer, the Indian cricket captain looked extremely smart. His mother and wife Anushka cheered for Virat as he got the honour. Check out the pictures:

The Khel Ratna is the highest honour given to a sportsperson. Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award, Dronacharya Award, Arjuna Award, Dhyan Chand Award, Rashtriya Khel Protsahan Puruskar and Maulana Abul Kalam Azad (MAKA) Trophy are the six different categories in the awards are awarded. Not just the sportspersons, but the prizes are also presented to their coaches.
