Vasundhara Raje says ‘I feel insulted,’on Sharad Yadav’s fat jibe

Jaipur, Dec 07, 2018 : Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhara Raje on Friday said she felt “insulted” by former JD (U) leader Sharad Yadav calling her “fat” while campaigning in the state reported HindustanTimes.

 

“I actually feel insulted and I think even women are insulted,” Raje told media after casting her vote in Jhalrapatan constituency of Jhalawar for the Rajasthan assembly election, reported ANI.

Raje cast her vote at 8.38am at the specially made Pink booth at the community centre of Housing Board Colony in Jhalawar. Raje was accompanied by her son and Member of Parliament from Jhalawar, Dushyant Singh and his wife, Niharika Singh.

“We never issue personal statements against any leader and it is not civilized behavior. To set an example for future it’s important that EC takes cognisance of this kind of language,” she said, referring to Yadav’s comment.


At a rally in Rajasthan’s Alwar, Yadav said, “Vasundhara ko aaram do, bahut thak gayi hain, bahut moti ho gayi hain, pehle patli thi. Humare Madhya Pradesh ki beti hai (Give some rest to Vasundhra, she has become very tired, very fat. She used to be thin. She is our Madhya Pradesh’ daughter).”

The BJP had on Thursday condemned his remarks as sexist and filed a complaint with the election commission demanding action against Yadav.

Voting is being held in Rajasthan after a bitter electoral campaign between the Congress and the BJP in the state. The results from today’s voting will be declared on December 11, the day the votes will be counted.

After casting her vote, Chief Minister Rajasthan Vasundhara Raje said that the BJP was assured of a victory over the development issue.

While talking to the media, Raje said, “This is development vote so people will come out and vote for development which was done in the last 5 years’ tenure of the BJP-lead state government.”

“There had been no development during the former Congress government so the vote in current assembly polls would be for development”, she said.
