UP minister’s finger chopped off at event, doctors fail to reattach it due to heavy damage

Uttar Pradesh, Aug 13, 2019 : UP BJP president and state minister Swatantra Dev Singh suffered a terrible injury on Monday when one of his fingers was cut off in an accident during a ceremony in Muzaffarnagar. In the commotion and chaotic scenes at the event, Singh’s hand got stuck in his car and the finger severed, Yahoo reported.

The BJP leader was immediately rushed to the Vardhman Hospital where he is undergoing treatment.

According to a report in Dainik Jagran, Singh underwent a surgery with doctors operating on him for two hours to attach the finger to his hand. However, the doctors failed to join it as the finger was badly damaged after it fell on the ground.

A doctor at the hospital said he is being given the best possible medical attention. Senior government and police officials rushed to the hospital and are monitoring the developments.

The incident took place when Swatantra Singh reached Circular Road in Muzaffarnagar for an event. On his arrival, a group of women BJP supporters rushed to welcome him with garlands. This is when he tried to get off his car and in the commotion the little finger on his right hand was cut off.

According to Dainik Jagran, Singh’s finger severed and fell off when he was pushed in the commotion. While some of his supporters managed to find the finger lying on the ground, a ring that he was wearing on the finger couldn’t be found.

Uttar Pradesh Principal Secretary Avinash Awasthi said that Dr Jain at the Vardhman Hospital is looking at Singh’s case while the district magistrate, SSP and senior leaders of the party have ensured that the minister’s needs are taken care of at the hospital.
