As per a report in The Indian Express, the teachings will be imparted as part of a special campaign under the varsity’s year-long centennial celebrations

The campaign will start next month on the university campus.

The BHU plans to institute a panel of teachers, students and doctors to “counsel boys against whom complaints of eve-teasing and misbehaviour with girl students” have been reported.

While being counselled, the students will reportedly be asked “how they would feel if someone indulges in objectionable behaviour with girls in their families”.

According to the university’s PRO Rajesh Singh, the aim of the campaign is “to make students aware of what is right and what is wrong”.

The authorities at BHU believe “only laws and rules cannot stop crime against women”. According to them, there is “a need to also bring a positive change in the youths’ mindset”.

Just recently, while announcing the campaign, BHU vice-chancellor G C Tripathi had said that Valentine’s Day, which is part of western culture, “should not be celebrated on the BHU campus”.

Also, as part of the campaign, professors will impart lectures on “moral values and ethics” inside hostels, classes and places on the campus where students gather, the English daily reported.
