Mumbai, Sep 29, 2020: The team of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), which was re-evaluating actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s post-mortem and viscera findings, has submitted its report to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) which is probing the case of the late actor’s mysterious death.

A panel of AIIMS doctors was re-evaluating Sushant Singh Rajput’s post-mortem and viscera reports, from the remaining 20 per cent viscera sample available, to ascertain if it was a murder or suicide.

The AIIMS team submitted its report to the CBI on Monday evening.

The report is now being analysed with other available evidence by the CBI to conclude if Sushant Singh Rajput was killed or if it was a case of suicide.

According to the information accessed by India Today, the AIIMS report is a “conclusive finding”, however, CBI will take a final call after going through the evidence it has collected so far.

Dr Sudhir Gupta, who led the team of doctors, said AIIMS and CBI are in agreement on Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case but more deliberations are needed.

"There is a need to look into some legal aspects for a logical legal conclusion," news agency ANI quoted Dr Sudhir Gupta as saying.

Earlier, Sushant Singh Rajput’s family’s lawyer, Vikas Singh, had claimed that as per AIIMS doctors’ report, the cause of the actor’s death was "200% strangulation". However, Dr Sudhir Gupta had termed these claims "incorrect".

Initially, the panel of AIIMS doctors was to conclude on September 22 if the actor’s death was a suicide or a murder, however, the probe got extended. This is when Sushant Singh Rajput’s family’s lawyer Vikas Singh had said the delay by CBI in taking a decision on the cause actor’s death was "frustrating".

"Getting frustrated by the delay in CBI taking a decision to convert abetment to suicide to murder of SSR [Sushant Singh Rajput]. The Doctor who is part of AIIMS team had told me long back that the photos sent by me indicated 200% that it’s death by strangulation and not suicide."

Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead at his Mumbai home on June 14. The cause of death as per Mumbai Police’s initial investigation, as well as his autopsy report, was asphyxia due to hanging.

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the CBI, formed to probe Sushant’s death case, was in close touch with the AIIMS doctors to decide the direction of the investigation.
