Suicide attack foiled at Dhaka international airport; bomber killed

Bangladesh, Mar 24, 2017 : A suicide bomber attacked the Dhaka international airport in Bangladesh but the security forces foiled the bid and killed the terrorist.

 

The attack was carried out on a police check-post at 8 pm but the attacker was killed and no casualties were reported.

Airport police station officer-in-charge Noor-e-Azam Mia confirmed the attack. Police has already cordoned-off the spot. Higher police officers said they could not guess any motive of the attack so far.

Reports said the suicide bomber blew himself up near the police checkpost.

Bangladesh Army’s para commandos and SWAT force are combing the area to eliminate chances of another terrorist hiding in the vicinity.

The latest incident came a week after a suicide bomber blew himself up at a security forces base near the international airport in the Bangladesh capital, Dhaka, part of a surge of militant attacks in the Muslim-majority country.
