Sub-Inspector Akhtar Khan shot dead during raid: Greater Noida

Noida, Apr 25, 2016: A sub inspector was allegedly shot dead during a raid at Nai Abadi area of Dadri, police said on Monday.

The incident occurred early Monday morning when Kot police post in charge, Akhtar Khan, 40, lead a team to arrest a criminal named Furkan.

One of the suspects in the hideout fired a shot at the inspector, who then died on the spot.

Heavy police force was deployed in the area, police said.

“The police team was conducting a raid at Nai Abadi area to arrest a cirminal Fukran who was wanted in many cases of armed robberies. Khan was leading the team. He was the first to enter in the house of the suspect. As he stepped inside the house, one of the suspects started firing. He got shot in the neck and died at the spot,” said Anurag Singh, deputy superintendent of police, Dadri.

Khan hailed from the Aligarh, UP. He was selected in the force as a constable in 1998. He passed the internal exams to become a sub inspector.

“Multiple teams are deployed to arrest the suspects who had shot Khan. His family was informed about the incident,” Singh said.
