SC to BCCI: Accept Lodha panel report, you won’t get a second innings

Sinha, Feb 04, 2016: The Supreme Court on Thursday told the BCCI it has to accept retired Chief Justice RM Lodha’s report to reform Indian cricket and it “won’t get a second innings” to do this.

The court gave the board time till March 3 to “mull over the report” but warned that there was no “rationale not to accept it.”

“There is no second innings--it’s all over,” said the court.

The panel headed by retired chief justice Lodha was appointed by the apex court in 2015 in the wake of a sport-fixing scandal in Indian Premier League (IPL), the biggest crisis to hit the cash-rich sports body in the country. In January, the committee recommended barring ministers and government officials from holding office in the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India )and legalising betting in sweeping measures to clean up the scandal-ridden sports body.
