chinaLater on Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to personally receive Jinping in Ahmedabad as a special gesture.

Both the leaders are expected to discuss a host of issues, both regional and global, however economic co-operation is highest on the agenda.

An envoy of the Tibetan government in exile had asked the Centre to raise the Tibet issue with Xi Jinping during his visit, according to a report.

China is expected to announce $100 billion of investments in developmental projects such as railways, infrastructure and power generation, among others. In return, China is likely to seek India’s support in its plan to revive the ancient Silk Route.

The success of the visit will depend on addressing key issues like $35 billion trade deficit in China’s favour which India wants China to reduce, boundary talks, Tibet and the Dalai Lama and the issue of stapled visas.
