Preparations on as envoys of 80 countries to visit Covid vaccine centre in Hyderabad on Dec 9

Hyderabad, Dec 05, 2020:    As 80 foreign envoys are scheduled to visit the coronavirus vaccine centre in Hyderabad on Wednesday, an official release has said, "Hyderabad is all set to host foreign dignitaries on December 9."

The visit is being organised by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).

"The Ministry of External Affairs is organising a visit of ambassadors and high commissioners of around 80 countries to familiarise the foreign envoys about some key research and development activities being done by the country," it said.

The one-day visit was planned after a briefing held by Foreign Secretary Harsh Shringla with foreign heads of mission on India’s coronavirus preparedness and her global partnership and cooperation.

Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar, IAS, presided over a meeting with an advance team, including Chief of Protocol Shri Nagesh Singh, IFS, and other senior officials of the state government, and discussed the arrangements to be made in connection with the high-profile visit.

Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited India’s top vaccine pharma on Saturday to review the developmental work on the coronavirus vaccine.

The chief secretary has said that the dignitaries will be visiting the industrial units — Bharat Biotech Limited and E Biologicals Limited — which are working on the Covid-19 vaccine in India.

"He has asked the officials to make foolproof arrangements duly, following all the Covid protocols during the visit of the dignitaries. Five well-equipped buses, a special medical team, should be put in place. A presentation should also be made to showcase the state’s potential in the production and supply of vaccine and should also include the Pharma City and Genome Valley," according to the official release.

Principal Secretary (Political) Vikas Raj, Principal Secretary (TR&B) Sunil Sharma, Principal Secretary (Industries) Jayesh Ranjan, Cyberabad CP VC Sajjanar, Hyderabad Collector Swetha Mohanty are among other officials who are likely to attend the meeting.

Earlier, the scheduled program of 100 foreign envoys’ visit to Pune’s Serum Institute and Genova Biopharmaceuticals Limited on December 4 to review the development of Covid vaccines had been cancelled.
