Parvathamma Rajkumar put on assisted ventilation

Bengaluru, May 09, 2017: The condition of Parvathamma Rajkumar, wife of the late Kannada matinee idol Rajkumar, who was admitted to M.S. Ramaiah Hospital on May 14 for weakness, is stable.


Parvathamma RHospital president Naresh Shetty said she had difficulty in breathing on Wednesday night and was shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). “She is on assisted ventilation and her vitals are within normal limits, except for her renal parameters, which are slightly deranged,” he said.

According to doctors attending to her, Ms. Parvathamma, 78, was treated for malignancy a few years back and now has metastasis (the development of secondary malignant growths at a distance from a primary site of cancer).

She is on constant monitoring by a team of doctors comprising chief physician Sanjay Kulkarni, senior intensivist Ratna, intensivist Deepak, medical oncologist Nalini Kilara and nephrologist Mahesh.

Meanwhile, appealing to the people against spreading rumours about the health of his mother, actor Shivarajkumar said: “My mother is in ICU but there is no reason to worry. Compared to Wednesday, her condition has improved now.”

Raghavendra Rajkumar, the eldest son, said: “We are in safe hands. Best health specialists are taking care of her. We need your prayers for her good health.”

Anticipating large crowd at the hospital, additional police personnel were deployed in and around the hospital. City Commissioner Praveen Sood visited the hospital.
