Northeast Delhi tense as death toll jumps to seven

Delhi, Feb 25, 2020: Former Central Information Commissioner Wajahat Habibullah and others moved SC seeking lodging of an FIR with regard to recent violence in Delhi over the Citizenship Amendment Act. The application will be heard on Wednesday, Yahoo reported.

Section 144 of the CrPC has been imposed in the North East Delhi district as the death toll climbed to 7 on Tuesday, 25 February, reports PTI.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will hold a meeting with Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and various representatives of political parties, at 12 pm on Tuesday, reported news agency ANI.

A head constable was among seven people killed as violence spiralled over the amended citizenship law in northeast Delhi, turning it into a battlefield on Monday with frenzied protesters torching houses, shops, vehicles and a petrol pump, and hurling stones.
