While the police say she was locked up for a few weeks, Suma, however, claimed that she had been locked in the room since her marriage with Sannaiah, her husband, 12 years ago.

The woman also said that she used a small box at home for toilet and loo breaks and her children would wait outside the house after coming back from school until her husband returned from work, and let them in as she was locked up all the time.

Suma said she used to give food to children through the window after their return from the school, authorities explained.

“It’s been 12 years since I got married. He always locked me up in the house and tortured me. Nobody in the area would question him… My children go to school. But they remain outside until my husband comes back from work. I would give them food through the window,” Suma told India Today.

As per the publication, the woman is the third wife of the accused and shares two kids with him. The victim, however, refused to complain about her husband.
