Mumbai rains have remained in hiding ever since December. In fact, the last rainy spell was witnessed On December 5 and December 6, wherein the city had recorded 22 mm and 53 mm of rainfall, respectively. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted rain/ thundershower at most places with isolated heavy falls very likely over Kerala, coastal Karnataka and Lakshadweep Islands during next 24 hours. Rains or thundershowers are also expected at a few places very likely over south Tamil Nadu during next 24 hours.

Most of the intense clouding is being confined to sea only, but it’s the peripheral of the system that are affecting the coastal areas. Thus, any heavy showers are ruled out over Mumbai. These showers are expected during the latter part of the day. However, clouding has restricted the rise in mercury. Around 11:30 am, mercury was hovering around 28°C, while at the same time yesterday it was 34°C.
