Massive Fire in Mumbai Suburb, Multiple Explosions Heard

Mumbai, Dec 07, 2015:  A massive fire has broken out in a slum area in Mumbai’s Kandivali suburb. Reports say multiple explosions were heard.

 

12 fire tenders have rushed to the spot in Damu Nagar. Some reports suggest an LPG cylinder blast at a godown triggered the series of explosions.

"We heard a loud blast around 12:45 pm and then 15-20 explosions one after the other," a resident from a nearby area said.

The godown is reportedly located in a congested colony, making it difficult for fire tenders to reach the site. The fire has also led to traffic jams in Kandivali.

There are also fears that the blaze could soon spread to a nearby forest area.
