Man tries to ’marry’ minor girl on moving bus near Madurai, arrested

Madurai, July 22, 2015: A 33-year old man was arrested after he allegedly attempted to tie mangalasutra to a girl in a running bus near Madurai on Tuesday, police said.

Kallanai, a saleman in a TASMAC liquor outlet, used to tease the girl while she used to travel by bus to her school.

This morning he sprang up from his seat in the bus and tried to tie the mangalasutra around the neck of the girl when the alert girl foiled it and slapped him with a footwear.

Other passengers in the bus joined the girl and beat him up and handed him over the All woman Police Station at Melur.

Inspector Ambika arrested the man and produced him before a court which remanded him to Judicial custody.
