Madhya Pradesh: Man burnt to death for refusing to give Rs 10, accused held

Bhopal, Feb 29, 2020:  A young man was burnt to death in Madhya Pradesh’s Ujjain city on Friday after two of his friends allegedly set him on fire for refusing to give them Rs 10.

The incident took place on February 22 in Nanakheda area of Ujjain.

After six days of treatment, the man, identified as Ganesh, succumbed to his injures on Friday.

Ganesh was referred to Indore, Madhya Pradesh for treatment, where he died.

The accused, Suraj and Shubham, had demanded Rs.10 from Ganesh. When the victim refused to give the amount, one of the accused sprinkled petrol on the victim’s hand. Thereafter, the accused set Ganesh ablaze, by using a match stick.

Within seconds Ganesh was engulfed by flames.

The entire incident was captured in CCTV cameras, which showed both the accused -- Shubham and Suraj.

Subsequently, the local police arrested the two accused on charges of attempt to murder.

According to the police, there is sufficient evidence against both the accused as they were seen in the CCTV footage.
