Ludhiana: At least one killed, 15 trapped in building collapse after massive fire

Ludiana , Nov 20, Nov 2017 : At least one person has been killed and 15, including firemen, are trapped after a factory manufacturing polybags caught fire and collapsed in Industrial Area in Ludhiana on Monday. The building of Amarson Polymers, at Suffiana Chowk, gave way around noon, four hours after the fire broke out. A team of NDRF personnel are conducting rescue operations, while the Border Security Force (BSF) and the Punjab Armed Police (PAP) have also been rushed from Jalandhar.

“One body extracted. 15 trapped at least. NDRF team has reached. BSF and PAP also coming from Jalandhar, ” Police Commissioner R N Dhoke confirmed to the media.

The deceased has been identified as Inderpal Singh.

Fire department officials Rajinder Sharma, Sumohan Gill and Raj Kumar are feared to be trapped in the rubble.
