Jaya has fully recovered: Apollo chief

Chennai, Nov 5, 2016, DHNS:  Putting an end to speculation about Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa’s health, Apollo Hospital chairman Pratap C Reddy on Friday said the AIADMK leader has completely recovered and understands what is going on around her.


Jaya 5“She has completely recovered and understands what is going on around her. She is also able to monitor the progress that is happening. It is up to her to decide when to return home,” Reddy said.

Jayalalithaa, who was admitted to hospital on September 22 following fever and dehydration, has been undergoing treatment for more than a month, with a panel of doctors constantly monitoring her health.

Attributing the “excellent progress” in the chief minister’s condition to the combined effort of a group of doctors, Reddy said, “At present, she is completely under control. She controls the nurses and doctors as to what she should do and what they should do.”

When asked whether Jayalalithaa will be shifted from the critical care unit to the general ward, he said it all depends on her. “The decision will be made by her...You know her nature. She understands herself very well,” the hospital chairman said.

To another question on whether Jayalalithaa had asked to go home, Reddy said, “It must be on top of her mind.
