Based on a specific information, a team of the NCB intercepted a truck loaded with apples on Monday evening near a toll plaza on Jammu-Srinagar national highway. After unloading the truck, 50 packets of heroin were found in three wooden apple boxes.

The truck driver, who is a resident of North Kashmir’s Kupwara district, was arrested in connection with the case.

"The truck was on its way to Delhi from North Kashmir’s Kupwara. We don’t know from where the driver got the consignment of heroin. We are interrogating him and the probe is on," said Virender Kumar Yadav, Zonal Director of NCB, Jammu while speaking to India Today TV.

When asked whether the consignment of heroin was meant to generate funds for terror groups, he said that an investigation is on and it will be difficult to say anything at this moment. "We are probing this case from all angles. Our investigation is not complete yet. However, we can’t rule out the narcotics-terror angle in this case," said Virender Kumar Yadav. According to NCB, this is the third biggest seizure of heroin this year in the country.
