International airport at Kannur, inaugurated

Kannur, Dec 10, 2018 : The Kannur International Airport, a major infrastructure project in the north Malabar region of Kerala, took off on Sunday morning with Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and Civil Aviation Minister Suresh Prabhu jointly flagging off the Abu Dhabi-bound Air India Express flight, marking the commissioning of the greenfield airport developed near Mattannur here, The Hindu reported.

 

People turned out in large numbers to watch the inauguration of the airport. A landmark project, the airport was s a dream-come-true for the people in the region. The inaugural flight Air India Express IX 715 flagged off at 10:06 a.m.

State Ministry of Commerce and Industry E.P. Jayarajan, ministers Ramachandran Kadannappally, A.K. Saseenran, K.K. Shylaja, E. Chandrashekharan and Mr. Jayarajan were present. The Chief Minister, Civil Aviation Minister and other Ministers jointly lit the traditional lamp at the departure hall before the flag off. Kannur International Airport Ltd. Managing Director V. Thulasidas and Civil Aviation Secretary Kamal Nayan Choubey, State Police Chief Loknath Behera were also be present at the inaugural function.
