Hyderabad: Mother sold infant son for Rs 45,000 to realise her Mumbai dream

Andhra Pradesh, Aug 13, 2020: Hyderabad Police has arrested a 22-year-old mother for trying to sell her two-month-old son for Rs 45,000 to realise her dream of going to Mumbai.

The incident was reported in Habeebnagar police station area in Hyderabad.

Within 24 hours of receiving a complaint, police managed to recover the newborn and also nabbed the mother, who was trying to sell the baby

According to police, 22-year-old mother Shaikh Zoya Khan was living alone after a fight with her husband over a petty issue. She had long desired to go to Mumbai and had been facing difficulties in nurturing the baby alone. This is when she decided to sell the baby boy named Shaikh Adnan.

On Tuesday, the father Abdul Mujaheed, learnt about his wife trying to sell their son and approached the police.

Police have arrested the mother and five others along with the family that purchased the boy and the mediator who fixed the deal. A case under the Juvenile Justice Act has been lodged against them.

The boy was later handed over to his father by the police.
