Four killed in lorry-MUV collision

Belur (Hassan district), July 28, 2015, DHNS: Four persons were killed and eight injured in a head-on collision between a multiutility vehicle (MUV) and a lorry at Kanayakanahalli near Belur on Monday.

All the deceased are from Bengaluru and have been identified as Shekhar (25), a resident of Sarjapur Road, Manjunath alias Manja (24) of Adugodi, B Lokesh (26) of Vinayaknagar and MUV driver K Manjunath (19) of Begur AK Colony.

A group of 11 friends had left Bengaluru on Sunday night to visit tourist places in Chikkamagaluru district, by the MUV. The accident occurred at 5.30 am on Monday due to the collision between the MUV and a lorry transporting plywood sheets. Both the vehicles had telescoped into each other and had to be separated with the help of an earthmover.

Four of the injured persons were shifted to Nimhans, Bengaluru while two each are admitted at private hospitals in Nelamangala and Hassan.

Senior police officers visited the accident spot.
