Former Karnataka chief ministers Kumaraswamy, BSY summoned

BSY-KumaraswamyBangalore, August 8, 2011: Former Karnataka chief ministers BS Yeddyurappa and HD Kumaraswamy have been summoned before the Lokayukta court. Yeddyurappa has been asked to appear before the court on August 27 in a land grabbing case while Kumaraswamy and his wife have to appear before the court on August 30 for allegedly granting a housing site to family members illegally.

Karnataka Governor HR Bhardwaj has given the go ahead for prosecution of the accused.

Yeddyurappa was forced to resign after being named in former Lokayukta Justice Santosh Hegde’s report on illegal mining. Kumaraswamy, too, was named in the Lokayukta report.

Advocate Vinod Kumar had filed the private complaint alleging that Kumaraswamy had recommended grant of mining licence to Jantakkal company violating norms.

The complainant had alleged that following allotment of land by Kumaraswamy in favour of the housing society during his tenure a Chief Minister, his wife was benefitted by a residential site in return.
