Five babies eligible for BBMP’s ’Pink Baby’ scheme

Bengaluru, Jan 01 2019: This year, five baby girls are born at BBMP maternity homes across the city, who are eligible for the Pink Baby scheme of Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP).

So far, the babies are reported to be born at Tavarekere, Ganganagar, Nandini Layout, Rajajinagar and Thimmaiah Road maternity hospitals.

Pink Baby scheme is a programme by BBMP wherein the girl babies born through natural deliveries in its maternity homes on January 1 every year will be eligible for the Rs 5 lakh amount. This amount will be kept as a deposit in bank and the parents will have to utilise the money for the girl’s higher education.

This programme was introduced by former Mayor R Sampath Raj during his tenure.
