Dia Mirza denies drug charges: False, baseless news, damaging to my career

New Delhi, Sep 22, 2020: Dia Mirza, in a Twitter thread, has denied consuming drugs and wrote that she has never ’procured or consumed any narcotic or contraband substances of any form in her life’. Dia Mirza’s name came up in Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) investigation while probing the drug angle in Sushant Singh Rajput death case. As per sources, Dia is under the NCB radar and might be summoned for questioning soon.

Denying the allegations of consuming drugs, Dia Mirza wrote, "1) I would like to strongly refute and categorically deny this news as being false, baseless and with mala fide intentions. - Continued."

She added, "2) Such frivolous reporting has a direct impact on my reputation being besmirched and is causing damage to my career which I have painstakingly built with years of hard work."

In another tweet, Dia wrote, "3) I have never procured or consumed any narcotic or contraband substances of any form in my life. I intend to pursue the full extent of legal remedies available to me as a law abiding citizen of India. Thanks to my supporters for standing by me."

The NCB began investigating the drug angle in Sushant Singh Rajput death case after Rhea Chakraborty’s WhatsApp chats with the late actor’s talent manager Jaya Saha surfaced. In the chats, Rhea and Jaya Saha were talking about drugs. The chats were accessed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), who then wrote to the NCB to probe the drug angle.

Until now, the NCB has arrested 18 people including Rhea Chakraborty, her brother Showik, Sushant Singh Rajput’s house manager Samuel Miranda and cook, Dipesh Sawant. Rhea and Showik are presently in judicial custody, which has been extended till October 6. Names of other Bollywood actors including Deepika Padukone, Sara Ali Khan, Rakul Preet Singh, Shraddha Kapoor and fashion designer Simone Khambatta have also surfaced up in the course of the NCB investigation.

Deepika Padukone’s name came up when the actress’s WhatsApp chat with Kwan Talent Management agency employee Karishma surfaced. In the chats, the two can be seen talking about drugs.

Jaya Saha, who works with Karishma in Kwan, was questioned by the NCB for the second time today. According to sources, she was asked about the chat between Deepika and Karishma.

Sushant Singh Rajput was found hanging at his Bandra residence on June 14. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is investigating the actor’s death.
