Dawood Ibrahim’s properties in Mumbai to be auctioned today

Mumbai, Nov 14, 2017 : Three properties belonging to fugitive underworld don Dawood Ibrahim, who is wanted for his role in the 26/11 terror attacks, will be auctioned in Mumbai on Tuesday.

 

According to reports, the auction will be conducted at 10 am by a private auctioneering firm at Indian Merchant Chambers (IMC) Churchgate through E-Auction and public auction in Churchgate area.


The three properties belonging to Dawood Ibrahim which will be auctioned on are  – Ronak Afroz Restaurant, Damarwala Building and Shabnam Guest House.

Shabnam Guest House is a two-storey building on Yakub Street, Bhendi Bazar. If sources are to be believed, the property was bought in name of Dawood’s first wife Mehjabeen.

The Reserve price kept for present auction is Rs 1 crore 23 lakh, 43 thousand.

Damarwala building was home to Dawood Ibrahim and his family members in late eighties.

Ibrahim’s close aide, Kaskar, after being released from jail was staying in this building and conducting operations of D Company.

The Reserve price now kept for the property Rs 1 crore 55 lakh 76 thousand.

Ronak Afroz restaurant went under hammer in 2015.

Its bid was won by a former journalist, S Balakrishnan, who couldn’t raise the bid amount which was Rs 4.28 crore.

Hence, the property is being auctioned again.

Balakrishnan had also claimed that he received a threat asking him to withdraw from the auction.

The Reserve price now kept for the property is Rs 1 crore 18 lakh 63 thousand.

The Centre has sometimes back taken a decision to sell off several properties belonging to underworld don Dawood Ibrahim. A notice in this regard was also published in newspapers.
 
In the advertisement, the government listed five properties, of which two belong to the underworld don.

This was done a week after the Thane Police slapped the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) on Dawood’s brother Iqbal Ibrahim Kaskar.

Procuring bail under this act becomes a stringent task. The act has been imposed in connection with an alleged extortion racket.

A Thane-based builder was allegedly forced to pay Rs 30 lakh and four flats to Iqbal Kaskar’s gang.
