England, Aug 14, 2014: Legendery Crickter and Former India opener and commentator Sunil Gavaskar escaped harm in a car crash while travelling from Manchester to London on Sunday.

Sunil GavaskarGavaskar was travelling with commentator Mark Nicholas. The driver of their Jaguar made a hard right to avoid collision with another vehicle heading their way, Mid Day reported. The collision could not be avoided, thanks to roads made slippery by heavy rains in the area.

Gavaskar was travelling to London to attend India’s next Test match. India had lost the Manchester Test by a heavy margin.

The newspaper reported that Gavaskar was seated on the left in the back with a friend alongside him, while Nicholas sat next to the driver.

A relieved Gavaskar later told the paper: “My God! God has saved us. There was torrential rain and our car was being driven very fast. Thankfully, no one was hurt although the accident was very, very scary.”
