Cheque bounce allegation against Minister Chinchansur

Belagavi, July 7, 2015: Minister for Textiles Baburao Chinchansur appears to be in the dock, with a woman accusing him of cheating her by issuing a cheque that bounced.

Anjana A. Shanthaveer, who has made the allegation, has sought permission from the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly to file a criminal case against him.

She has alleged in the letter to the Speaker that the Minister had borrowed Rs. 11.88 crore from her and the cheque he had issued in return (dated April 30, 2015) had bounced.

While the Speaker stated that the question of giving sanction for filing criminal proceedings does not arise, the Mr. Chinchansur denied the allegation.

Meanwhile, the Minister has filed a complaint against the woman, accusing her of stealing a cheque leaf and trying to en-cash Rs. 11 crore from his bank account. Based on his complaint filed a few days ago, the Vidhana Soudha police have registered a case.

“The matter is still in the preliminary stage, and we are investigating it,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Sandeep Patil said.
