Constable Guruveer Singh reportedly strangled his wife Anupriya Gautam to death at his government quarters in CRPF’s 201 CoBRA battalion, a senior police officer said.

Police confirmed that the incident occurred on March 16 after the couple had an argument over Guruveer Singh going for election duty.

Reports suggested that Singh approached the police after committing the murder and said that her wife committed suicide.

It was discovered that Singh was lying after the post-mortem report. The gathered evidence also indicated his involvement in the crime.

Police have not yet disclosed the motive of the crime. Singh has been booked under Section 302 (murder) and Section 201 (destruction of evidence) of the IPC. Singh has been sent to jail on judicial remand.
