Bengaluru, August 15, 2016: A BJP woman corporator, Mamatha Vasudev, was assaulted by a local Congress leader Sunandamma when Mamatha tried to stop some road work in Mathikere in Bengaluru.

WHAT HAPPENED

Mamatha Vasudev was passing by SDM colony in Mathikere when she questioned the men who were working on a stretch of road, why they were doing so on Independence Day.

It is alleged that Sunandamma, who is a supporter of the local MLA Muniratna, and also a local leader first got into a verbal duel with the corporator and later she physically assaulted the corporator.

Subsequently, the corporator fell unconscious and was shifted to Ramaiah Medical College in Mathikere.

A police complaint against Sunandamma and her colleague Rajareddy, who was also involved in the altercation, has been filed.
