Belagavi ASHA worker dies days after taking Covid-19 vaccine

AshaBelagavi, Feb 7, 2021: A 33-year-old ASHA worker from Belagavi died on Wednesday (February 3) who had taken Covishield vaccination on January 22. This is the third death in Karnataka of a vaccinated person after one died in Ballari and another in Shivamogga.

The state health department officials said that the post-mortem has been done and that the AEFI committee has concluded that the death was not due to Covid vaccination. She developed headache and vomiting on January 30 and was treated for gastritis at Belagavi Institute of Medical Sciences (IMS). Thereafter she was shifted to KLE Hospital.

The cause of death is said to be cerebral thrombosis. It is a condition in which a vein in the brain has blood clots.
