Bangalore: Woman given wrong blood at a government hospital, dies

Bangalore, July 5: In a tragic case of medical negligence, a 25-year-old woman has lost her life after allegedly being given the wrong blood by a lab technician. The incident happened at a prominent government hospital in Bangalore.

 

Medical Negligence-Blood-patient dies

25-year-old Rajeshwari, whose blood group was O+ was given B+ blood at the hospital.


Her family has lodged a police complaint of negligence and an investigation is on. Three persons including the nurse, doctor and lab technician have been suspended. The Karnataka health min has ordered an inquiry.

Rajeshwari’s family says that the hospital authorities are saying that the wrong label was pasted on the bottle. "My sister’s blood group was O+. The technician gave her B+. By the time they realised the mistake they had already given one bottle. Her situation worsened. She was shifted to another hospital and she died. They are now saying that wrong label was pasted on the bottle," Rajeshwari’s
