BSF convoy attacked on Jammu-Srinagar highway, 3 dead, 5 injured

Jammu, Aug 05, 2015: Days after the daring terror attack in Punjab’s Gurdaspur, some unidentified militants attacked a BSF convoy in Jammu and Kashmir in the wee hours of Wednesday.

The retaliatory firing by the security forces have killed one of the militants. One BSF jawan has also died in the ensuing gunfight between the militants and the security forces. 

CRPF and local police have also joined the operation and a fierce gunbattle is still underway.

According to initial reports, the BSF convoy was attacked near Sanruli, some 10 km from Udhampur, on the Jammu and Srinagar Highway.

The militants threw a grenade on the BSF convoy in which four jawans were injured.

Former J&K chief minister Omar Abdullah also took to Twitter to confirm the development.
