Atal Bihari Vajpayee to be conferred Bharat Ratna shortly

New Delhi, March 27, 2015, (IANS): Former prime minister of India and senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Atal Bihari Vajpayee is to be handed over the Bharat Ratna — the country’s highest civilian honour— on Friday.

President Pranab Mukherjee will personally visit the ailing leader, in a break from tradition, and confer the award on him.
