AAP says the man was earlier seen standing close to a sweet shop owned by BJP lawmaker OP Sharma. AAP leader Ashutosh tweeted to say that it’s part of a deep conspiracy as the anti-drug drive organised by them was pre-planned.

Ms Lamba received minor head injuries and was rushed to Aruna Asaf Ali hospital. She was released a short while later. The police has detained the man and is questioning him.

After the attack, the lawmaker tweeted, "Nashe ke khilaf ladai ka anjam... mujh par hamla kar mesa sar faad diya, khoon behne ke baawjood bhi main maidan nahi chhodungi... August Kranti diwas (This is the result of fight against drugs. They attacked me and it resulted in head injuries, but despite the attack I won’t back down)."
