500 homes destroyed in fire at slum in South Delhi

New Delhi, Apr 25, 2014: Around 500 jhuggis (huts) were destroyed in a fire at a large slum in South Delhi’s Vasant Kunj this morning.

The fire, reported at 8.30 a.m, has been doused. 28 fire engines were sent to put out the flames, said an official, adding that the reason for the fire is yet to be ascertained.

"No casualties have been reported so far," the official said.
