Bangalore, March 26: The Bangalore airport police arrested three employees of Kingfisher Airlines on charges of planting a bomb on a Kingfisher aircraft on Sunday. All the three who have been arrested were working as ground staff and had recently resigned. However, the management had not accepted their resignation yet.

According to sources, the trio was arrested while they were on their way to Dubai. Preliminary investigations have revealed that they were actually planning to go to Afghanistan via Dubai. The cops are now verifying their background, bank accounts and the phone numbers in their mobile phones.

A senior police official, on condition of anonymity, said, "As we suspect that they were involved in planting the bomb, we are interrogating them to ascertain their participation."

The official declined to divulge their identity stating that it could hamper the investigation process. Meanwhile, the Bangalore airport police have handed over all three of them to the Kerala police.

Basavaraj Malagatti, deputy commissioner of police (north east), who’s supervising the investigations in Bangalore, refused to comment on the arrests.

"We are just assisting the on-going investigations and have provided all the details that we have to the Kerala police, as the case has been registered there," said Malagatti, adding that there’s been no progress in the case so far.
