16-year-old Kerala girl repeatedly gang-raped for 2 Years; Her father among 5 arrested

Kerala, Dec 06, 2018 : Five men have been arrested in Kerala’s northern district of Kannur for raping and sexually abusing a 16-year-old girl. The father of the minor is also among those under custody after police registered a case of gang-rape on a complaint filed by the girl’s mother, Zeenews reported.

 

According to sources, “The minor has been sexually abused and raped multiple times on different occasions, including by her own father. Her father is in the custody of the police."

Police officials told News 18 that around 20 people were involved in the crime. The girl, a class 10 student, claimed that she was raped by her father several times over the last two years. She also alleged that at least four men raped her in November. One of the men is suspected to have befriended her through social media. "Three other accused were his friends," a police official was quoted as saying by NDTV.

The matter came light when the girl’s mother filed a police complaint on Monday. Police officials said it was the girl’s brother who learnt about her ordeal after being blackmailed with videos involving his sister. He spoke to his sister and that’s when the mother also got to know about this.

According to the complainant filed by the girl’s mother, the culprits took her to a lodge and clicked her photographs in compromising positions.

At least eight more people are being questioned by the police and more arrests are likely to be made on Thursday.
