Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant accompanied the group to Delhi at the meeting. The group was greeted with flowers and BJP scarves.

Talking to PTI over phone, Sawant, who is in Delhi, said a decision on dropping any minister from the coalition partners in the state will be taken after meeting senior BJP leaders, including Shah and party’s working president J P Nadda.

Sawant said he reached Delhi on Wednesday night along with the 10 MLAs who merged with the BJP.

A group of ten Congress MLAs in Goa led by Leader of Opposition in the assembly Chandrakant Kavlekar on Wednesday merged with the ruling BJP, increasing the saffron party’s strength to 27 in the 40-seat house.

The sudden move has left Congress, which had won 15 seats in the Goa assembly, with only 5 MLAs.

Congress held a protest in Parliament on Thursday, where party MPs accused the ruling BJP of orchestrating a political crisis in both Goa and Karnataka.

A number of top Congress leaders, including Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Anand Sharma, protested near the Gandhi statue in the Parliament complex and shouted slogans. They also carried placards with messages like "Save Democracy".
