’Hand of God’ in Kerala: Human Hand-shaped rock appears in Munnar river

Idukki, Sep 01, 2018 : With the flood rescue operations now over in flood-hit Kerala, restoration work has been underway across the state. Life is getting normal in Munnar which was the worst affected by floods in Kerala. After floodwater receded, a unique thing has surfaced in a river in Munnar which grabbed eyeballs of many. A rock appears to be in the shape of a human hand emerged in the Muthirapuzha River and is being called ’Hand of God’ which saved the hill station.

 

Some locals believe the unique rock is actually a ’Hand of God’ which saved Munnar in the Idukki district from nature’s fury in the southern state. However, some are of the view that the rock would have taken the hand shape due the powerful water flow. Believe it or not, the ’godly’ rock near the Kochi-Danushkodi bypass bridge has become a tourist spot in Munnar after floods. The Kerala flood disaster has claimed 483 lives and the estimated value of destruction "is more than the annual outlay of our state", Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said on Thursday. "The latest figure is -- there are 59,296 people in 305 relief camps. A total of 57,000 hectares of crops have been destroyed. An approximate estimate of the loss is more than the annual outlay of our state," he said.
