Dutch Healthcare Officials Visit Gulf Medical University

Thumbay, April 23, 2015:  A high level delegation led by Vice Minister for the Dutch Ministry Economic Affairs, Maarten Camps and Director-General Enterprise and Innovation Bertholt Leeftink  discussed about joint cooperation for research, collaborative medical degree program, Summer Training Program, and Development of Short term courses with the academic leadership of Gulf Medical University, Prof. Gita Ashok Raj.

The delegation was briefed about the academic programs and activities of the university through a presentation and were later taken on a tour of the campus and appraised of the facilities and services on offer. The delegates have expressed high appreciation for the research activities being undertaken by the university.


Later they met with the Founder President, Board of Governors Mr. Thumbay Moideen. They mentioned that the team would work out more details of collaboration and set further dialogue about joint activities and collaboration both in education and healthcare services. Mr. Moideen has assured the delegation of his fullest support in all the joint endeavors.

The delegation was assisted by Prof. Dr. Jan Raaijmakers from the Top Sector of Life Sciences & Health at the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Mr. Niels van Leeuwen, Liaison Officer Life Science & Health and Mrs. Daphne Dernison, Senior Advisor Bilateral Relations as a representative of the Dutch Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport.
