The first phase of the contests comprised of the fancy dress and dance competitions. The judges for the fancy dress competitions were Rita Andrade, Ronald Rodrigues and Ronnie Vaz. As noted by the judges, it was heartening to see creativity and originality in terms of both costume and theme for the fancy dress.

In the solo category of the dance competition there was no language bar but the group categories had to mandatorily perform to konkani songs. The choice of songs were feet tapping and the costumes were a treat to the eyes. The choreography of the dances was superb and the dancers were in perfect harmony. Truly the end result was a testimony of the dedication and the number of hours of practice put in by the performers. The judges for the dance competitions were Celia D’Souza,  Charmaine D’Souza and  Marceline Fernandes.

Alwyn D’Souza thanked and honoured all the judges with a token of appreciation. Sunita D’Souza and Lavina Rodrigues manned the registration desk.Jessy Mendonca and Errol D’Cunha were the official timers. Glylon Rodrigues provided sound support.  Reena Castelino thanked all the participants and announed the results.

The response in terms of participation in the contests was good and the audience support was overwhelming. The superior quality of performance was a clear indication of the enthusiasm of  the community members towards the show. After all what’s life without dance and "make believe"? What’s life without competitions and performances?

Note: As a mark of respect to those who lost their lives and those who mourn them in the Air India Express IX812 air crash at the Mangalore Airport on 22nd May 2010, the Management committee has postponed the 2nd part of the talent show competitions scheduled on 28th May 2010 (Singing/Quiz/Family photo/Elocution) until further notice.
