Kuwait: UMK Enthralls Audience with “Ootre Uzvadlen”

Kuwait, 22 Oct 2012: United Mangaloreans Kuwait (UMK) presented a spectacular “Fun Filled Evening 2012” with a variety of cultural entertainment and Konkani comedy drama “Ootre….Uzvadlen” on Friday 19th October at American International School, Maidan Hawally. This year the event was held in aid of “Little Sisters of Poor”, who are running a home for the aged at Bajjodi, Mangalore. It is worth mentioning here that during the past 3 years UMK has contributed more than Rs. 30 lacs to a HIV Aids center in Mangalore, Special school in Venur and White Dows Mangalore.

The program began at 5.45 pm with a welcome note from comperes of the evening Praveen Castelino & Renita Mascarenhas. Thereafter all the UMK members welcomed the crowd with a unique show. The house full crowd was entertained with various dances and songs performed by UMK members & children. While Nancy, Joel and Andrea Pinto choreographed the dances, Suneet Noronha provided scintillating music.

In the official program, Rev. Fr. Noel D’Almeida was the Chief Guest. He along with Main Sponsor and Cosponsors of the event were escorted to the stage. After the traditional lighting of the lamp the guests were honored with bouquets. Convener of UMK Mr. Agnel Saldanha welcomed all the guests & audience and also announced Rs. 11.21 lakhs as aid to “Little Sisters of Poor”. Additional collection done during the event will also be added to this amount. He thanked all the generous sponsors & donors for the support to a noble cause.Fr. Noel in his address lauded the efforts of UMK in giving a helping hand to the underprivileged brethren back home. Dr. Nuna Goel and Mr. Sathishchandra Shetty too appreciated the good work of UMK. All the sponsors, drama director, choreographers, music director, representatives of the media were felicitated. Lucy Aranha proposed the vote of thanks.
 
Thereafter hilarious Konkani drama “Ootre….Uzvadlen” was wonderfully presented by UMK artists, which was thoroughly enjoyed by the crowd. The drama was written by Pradeep Barboza, Paladka and directed by Jackson D’Souza, Miyar. Background score was provided by Suneeth Noronha & Sunil Mendonca. Choreography was done by Vrinda & Renwick Lewis. Rayan Lobo and Sheryl Fernandes did the background announcements. Sound & Lighting was provided by Illuminations (Anand D’Souza). Stage setting was done by Levnis Suares, Manoj Poojary & Anand Pais. The truly entertaining event was concluded at 11.00 pm.
