Reena D’Souza, Albert D’Souza crowned winners of GVOM-3

Doha, Oct 20, 2012 : Voice of Oman Reena D’Souza and Voice of Kuwait Orson Albert D’Souza were declared to be the winners of Gulf Voice of Mangalore (GVOM), season three, after the GVOM-3 grand finale held on Oct 19, Friday.

The first runner-up of the event was Voice of Qatar Preema Pinto in the female category, and the first runner-up of the event in the male category was Voice of UAE Jeevan Vas. The second runners-up in the female and male categories were Voice of UAE Sabitha Mathaias and Voice of Oman Movin Quadros, respectively.

MCA President Harry Lobo formally inaugurated the grand finale by lighting the traditional lamp. Among those present were Vice President Jason Quadros and members of the advisory committee Joachim D’Souza, Felix Lobo, Jerry Pinto, and Wilfred Fernandes. Leslie Rego compered the event.

The judges were Joel Pereira, Henry D’Souza, Meena Rebimbus, and Henry D’Souza.

One of the highlights of the event was a dance presentation by Cornel, Sonali, Sneha, Elton Mascarenhas, and others, who had taken part in Jhalak Dik Laa Jha and Dance India Dance.

The chief guest of the event was Sanjeev Arora, Indian ambassador to Qatar, and the main sponsor was Ronald Colaco and his wife Jean Colaco. Among the dignitaries on the dais were Walter Nandalike, editor-in-chief of Daijiworld; Rudolf D’Souza, representative of Property Infratech; and others.

GVOM-3 coordinators, all the 12 finalists, musicians and dancers, and the members of the jury were felicitated on this occasion. Eddie Sequeira, noted Konkani artist, was also honored on this occasion.

GVOM-4 will be hosted by MCCP, a Konkani association based in Oman. MCCP was ceremoniously handed over the responsibility on this occasion.
