
Dubai, July 31, 2012 : The Vara Mahalaxmi Samithi of UAE, which comprises more than 70 people belonging to different castes, conducted a lavish pooja for women on July 27, Friday at JSS Private School Auditorium, Al Safa, Dubai. Around 1200 devotees were present for this pooja, the sixth pooja of its kind to be organized by the samithi.





The puja began at 3:30 p.m. and was performed by Vedamoorthy Shri Shri  Gururaj Udupa and Purohit Raghu Bhat, who had come all the way from  Mangalore for this purpose. Anand Salian and his wife Usha conducted the  rites on behalf of all present. The members of the Vara Mahalaxmi  Samithi chanted Vishnu Sahasra Namavali and the Mahalaxmi Astakam, after  which they all sang Avigirinandini.
 Rajesh Kuttar and his team beautifully decorated the mantap, and the  lighted lamps, the tulasi katte, and the rangoli looked spectacular. The  Akand bhajan was performed by six bhajan teams, including Suma Narayan,  Vishwakarma Seva Samithi, Mogaveers UAE, Jabel Ali Bhajan Team,  Padmashree, and Narayan Seva Samithi. 
 Varalaksmi Vratha, held to please Goddess Laxmi, consort of Lord Vishnu,  one of the Hindu trinity, is held on the second Friday of Shravan. It  is performed by married women for the well-being of their families in  general and husband in particular. 
 The members also presented a nritya rupaka called Mahishasura Mardhini  on the occasion. The bhajan teams, the media, and the Satvik Living Team  were felicitated for their role in the puja.   
 The mahamangalarathi was held at 10:00 p.m. and was followed by aarathi  songs and rituals such as Kannikaaradhane, Suhasin Aradhane, and  Brahmanaradhane. The mahaprasada was then distributed among the devotees  along with sumptuous mouthwatering delicacies such as jalebi and  payasa.
