Kuwait: KCWA Celebrates “Dhon Korodanxo Sombhrom”

Kuwait, 16 April 2012: Kuwait Canara Welfare Association (KCWA) celebrated “Dhon Korodanxo Sombhrom” with dazzling singing, dancing & acting performances. The celebration was to mark the occasion of KCWA crossing over Rs. 2 crores in charity donations so far. It was also one of the largest gathering ever in Kuwait for a Mangalorean Konkani event. Young & budding Konkani composer & singer Kevin Misquith in his maiden overseas performance, along with versatile lead guitarist Rajgopal, enthralled the audience to the fullest.

 The scintillating show began at 5:00 pm at American International School auditorium, Maidan Hawally, with a title song by Rony D’Cunha & chorus. MC’s of the evening Lancy Rodrigues & Lydia Misquith introduced the program and all the musicians. Kevin Misquith and troupe immediately took over the presentation of entertainment. Variety of hit songs with stunning music kept the house-full gathering on their toes throughout the show. Scintillating dances were presented by Jovas XLNC led by Sunil & Jyothi Colaco and Asha D’Souza.

 Kevin Misquith and Rajgopal were joined by golden voice of Konkani Rony D’Cunha and singing sensations of Kuwait Joyline Gonsalves, Jovita Fernandes, Orson D’Souza, Allen Pinto, Lancy Rodrigues, Gladys Lorena, and Marcus D’Almeida. Rajgopal led the live music with Kiran Gonsalves, Sunith Noronha, Joy Fernandes, Jackson D’Souza and Rony Rodrigues. Hilarious jokes were presented by Stephen Machado, Rinna D’Souza, Lancy Rodrigues, Anil Menezes, Renny Menezes, Agnel Saldanha, Nitin Castelino, Rudy D’Souza, Lucy Aranha, Renny Machado, Ailine Cornelio, Celine Machado, Master Ansel Gonsalves, Cynthia Pinto and Kiran Lobo.

In the official program that followed, MC’s introduced KCWA management Committee to the crowd. President Stephen Machado welcomed the Chief guests, sponsors and the gathering. Rev. Fr. Franklin D’Souza, National Youth & ICYM Director was the chief guest along with Parish priest of Salmiya Fr. Blany Pinto and Asst. Parish priest of Ahmadi Fr. Noel D’Almeida. On this occasion Mr. Lawrence D’Souza of Caesars Group was honoured with the title “Kuwait Canara Jeevan Dathar” and Mr. Felix D’Souza of Al-Rathath Est. was honoured with the title “Kuwait Canara Kalakarnxo Adhar” for their outstanding contribution to the community & society. They were awarded with shawl, urmal and a memento by the chief guests. Mr. Lawrence & Mr. Felix thanked KCWA for the kind gesture. All the sponsors and visiting artists were also felicitated on this occasion. Fr. Franklin in his address lauded the efforts of KCWA towards charity to the poor & needy. Rudy D’souza read the maan pothr while Anil Fernandes conducted the felicitation ceremony. Prominent KCWA member Mr. Francis Sirur donated Rs. 1 lakh to KCWA on this occasion, thus paving the foundation for the Third Crore. General Secretary Anil D’Mello proposed the vote of thanks.
 
After the official program, Kevin Misquith and troupe were back in action with more glitzy performance of songs and dances. The crowd never for a moment seemed to tire and thoroughly enjoyed the whole evening. Illuminations group led by Anand D’Souza provided the sound and lighting. Joe D’Souza provided the background scores and Steevan Misquith arranged the multi-media presentation. BlueRay team led by Alban D’Souza captured video & photography. The truly entertaining event was concluded at 11:00 pm.
