At the outset, the President of KCWA-Stephen Machado welcomed the gathering. Thereafter, the minutes of the general body meeting held in September 2011 as well as finance reports were read out. A review was also taken about the membership drive and education fund.

One of the important items on the agenda was the amendment to the KCWA Constitution in which death benefits to the ordinary as well as life members were discussed. In this amendment it was laid down that any member who has been on the roll of the KCWA will be eligible for the mortuary benefit.

As per the amendment, KD 250 will be provided for the funeral arrangemetns of  the deceased memebr of the KCWA inside or outside Kuwait. In addition to the above mentioned benefit, additional KD 250 will be allocated as financial help to the family of the deceased member who dies anywhere, either in Kuwait or elsewhere. However, this help will be provided on condition that the family members make an application to that effect within two months of the death of the member. This amendment was passed in the genral body meeting.

During the general discussion, many members gave useful suggestions on various issues related to the KCWA. One of the life members of the KCWA, John Tauro who is presently based in Mangalore suggested that the members of the KCWA who will be returning to India for good should become the members of the newly formed Konkan Overseas Returnees Welfare Association (KORWA) which is based in Mangalore. Rudy D’Souza, ex-President of KCWA read out the motto of the KORWA.

Vote of thanks was proposed by Anil Menezes.
